Hi, I’m Carolyn!

I am a gal with a love and passion for all things science and food.

I am a neuropsychologist by day, a mediocre triathlete by night, and a culinary ninja in between. I cook and bake with an appreciation for the science behind delicious recipes.

Some people eat to live and others live to eat.
I am the latter. Much of my day is spent thinking about food.
I think about how well that broth turned out last night and how I can make it even better. I think about all the culinary world regions that I have not yet explored. I think about what wine would best pair with my chicken dish tonight. I think about why my last attempt at croissants went horribly, horribly wrong.
I think. A lot.
It’s a problem, really.

Frequently I tell my patients to write things down. Anything and everything. Research says it helps clear the mind and allows the limbic system to chill out so you can focus on other things (e.g., sleeping). I believe that if you write something down, you don’t have to worry about remembering it. Just don’t forget where you put that piece of paper!

I digress.

This blog is about my casual ramblings. Primarily food, travel, and science – three of my very favorite things. You’ll read about my passion for baking and cooking, the science behind my recipes, (current) favorite wines and beers, blips about neuroscience and the brain, and my travels that revolve around finding the next best meal.

You’ll also hear about my husband, my dog, my friends, and other shenanigans that are bound to unfold. It’s a hodgepodge of topics that, oddly enough, overlap more than I can appreciate. Such is my life. And I like it that way.
